Understanding Stealth Racist Abuse in College Algebra (offered by TODOS Mathematics For All as part of the TODOS LIVE PD series)

DescriptionBecause race as a topic doesn't tend to come up in the mathematics classroom, the ways that race and racism work in the classroom are often unseen and not considered. In this presentation, I will describe what stealth racist abuse is and how it work in the mathematics classroom setting and group work. Based on my research, I'll offer examples, the implications, and strategies to acknowledge and combat stealth racist abuse.
